THE army has been deployed to help flood victims in Klang Utama, confirmed local MP Charles Santiago.

He added that his office will be working together with the military to co-ordinate the relief effort.

“Thanks @H2OComms for the quick response. Yes, spoke to Mohd Zakaria (army chief of staff) last night. This morning the army is in Klang Utama to begin operations & work with my staff. We need to extend support to Sri Muda once the work here is over. Thanks again YBM@IsmailSabri60,” he tweeted.

Charles had earlier tweeted to Hishammuddin that delay in emergency support was not acceptable and the army must be deployed right away.

“Klang Utama is one of the most affected, with homes under water: 2ft-6ft. We need @H2OComms to send the army now with boats to provide support for homes here. They have been stranded 4 days. Delayed emergency support isn’t acceptable. @IsmailSabri60 @AmirudinShari,” he said.

Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein tweeted yesterday that he had instructed Armed Forces Chief of Staff Lt-Gen Mohd Zakaria Yadi to assist with the situation in Klang. – December 20, 2021.
