PUTRAJAYA will allocate RM100 million for post-flood repairs for homes and infrastructure affected by the natural disaster nationwide, said Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob today.

“The RM100 million is an initial funding. If it is insufficient, we will add on (more money),” he told reporters at a press conference in Klang, Selangor, today.

He also announced that heads of affected households will each receive an RM1,000 aid.

The money will be disbursed post-floods and once displaced victims have returned to their homes, he added.

“We will get their details from district offices and expedite (the payment). RM1,000 may not be enough, but it will help buy basic necessities.”

Ismail said there are more than 15,000 victims at flood relief centres nationwide.

Selangor saw what is touted to be its most devastating floods in recent times, after a continuous downpour for two days.

The state has opened 103 flood relief centres in eight districts.

Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Negri Sembilan and Malacca are also affected by floods. – December 19, 2021.
