948 hospitalised with Covid-19

MALAYSIA yesterday logged fewer than 1,000 Covid-19 hospital admissions for the fourth consecutive day.

The Health Ministry reported 648 new admissions, a dip from the previous day’s 997.

The CovidNow website showed hospital beds were 67.1% filled, 32.6% by Covid-19 patients.

The hospital admission rate indicates the severity of the virus. 

The hospital utilisation rate includes bed usage, as well as the number of patients in intensive care units (ICU) and on ventilators.

The Klang Valley logged the highest daily admission at 278, the bulk of which were in Selangor (33 in Selangor, in 27 Kuala Lumpur, and 18 in Putrajaya.

Other states that reported new admissions were Johor (200), Kedah (34), Kelantan (74), Malacca (12), Negri Sembilan (38), Pahang (59), Perak (38), Perlis (3), Penang (20), Sabah (105) Sarawak (59) and Terengganu (28).

No new admission was reported in Labuan.

As of midnight, there were 56,229 active Covid-19 cases in Malaysia. Among these, 383 were in ICU, 198 of them on ventilators.

Meanwhile, 46,826 were in home quarantine, 4,763 in low-risk quarantine centres, and 4,257 in hospital.

Yesterday saw 4,226 new reported infections.

Selangor logged the highest number of infections at 1,388.

Other states and territories that recorded new cases were Johor (471), Kedah (261), Kelantan (176), Malacca (139), Negri Sembilan (203), Pahang (352), Perak (209), Perlis (29), Penang (249), Sabah (195), Sarawak (45), Terengganu (214), Kuala Lumpur (300), Labuan (6) and Putrajaya (25).
