NATIONAL Unity Minister Halimah Mohamed Sadique visited the Thaipusam celebration location in Batu Caves, Selangor, today, to streamline the suggested standard operating procedures (SOP).

On Tuesday, it was decided that the Health Ministry, National Unity Ministry, National Security Council and police will inspect the celebration site to fine-tune the proposed SOP.

The National Unity Ministry in a statement today said the inspection looks at the proceedings and movements of the chariot, as well as other religious areas from the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Jalan Tun H.S. Lee to the Sri Subramania Swamy Temple in Batu Caves.

Similar inspections will be carried at temples in Kedah, Perak, Penang, Malacca, Negri Sembilan and Johor soon.

The findings and results of discussions between the Health Ministry, National Unity Ministry and police will be brought to the defence and health ministers to further improve the celebration’s SOP. – Bernama, December 16, 2021.
