THERE are 18 probable Omicron variant cases in the country with carriers from all over the world, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said.
He said the cases are currently being tested with the results to be announced tomorrow.
He had earlier confirmed a positive case of the Omicron variant involving an eight-year-old girl who flew back from Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Khairy said the latest case means Nigeria will be placed in the “high risk nation” category and travellers who come from the African continent will have to wear a digital movement device.
“Based on a study from Kyoto University, the Omicron variant is four times more contagious than the Delta variant,” he said.
Khairy also said that all travellers coming from the United Kingdom will have to self-test daily and report it in their MySejahtera app.
“Fully vaccinated travellers from the UK will have to do a self-test for seven days, while not fully vaccinated individuals will have to test for 10 days during quarantine,” he added. – December 16, 2021.
