4 more students arrested, 6 released in MRSM bullying case

POLICE have detained four more students to assist in the investigation of an alleged bullying incident at MRSM Sultan Azlan Shah in Kuala Kangsar, which went viral yesterday.

Perak police chief Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said four students, one aged 15 and three aged 13, have been held after they gave their statements at police headquarters in Kuala Kangsar today.

He added that 10 students have been arrested so far, after six were taken into custody yesterday.

“The six suspects (from yesterday) have been released this evening, while four more will be released after the investigation is completed tomorrow.”

In the 13- to 30-second video viral, several teenagers, believed to be boarding school students, are seen punching and kicking another student. The video was uploaded online and has led to a public outcry.

An initial investigation found that the incident, involving a 13-year-old victim, occurred between 1am to 2am on Thursday.

Police have since called all the students involved and the social media account owner who disseminated the clips to give their statements to assist in the investigation under section 147 of the penal code and section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1988. – Bernama, December 11, 2021.
