5,058 new Covid-19 cases

Daily Covid-19 infections have returned to near 5,000 after a jump in cases yesterday, the Ministry of Health reports. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, December 10, 2021.

THERE were 5,058 Covid-19 cases in the 24 hours to noon today, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

The infections today are a decrease from yesterday, when 5,446 cases were reported.

The new figures take the total number of virus cases reported to 2.68 million.

The breakdown of cases according to states will be uploaded to the CovidNow website after midnight.

There were 1,128 people admitted to hospitals yesterday. Some 68.3% of hospital beds nationwide are occupied, of which 36% are for Covid-19 patients.

Noor Hisham also said the infection rate is currently at 0.97. – December 10, 2021.
