A TOTAL of 1,128 people were admitted for Covid-19 yesterday, the Health Ministry reported.
Yesterday’s figure was an increase from the previous day when 1,118 admissions were reported.
Overall hospital bed utilisation nationwide was at 68.3%, of which 36% were Covid-19 patients.
Hospital admission indicates the severity of the virus, while hospital utilisation includes bed usage, as well as the number of patients in intensive care units (ICU) and on ventilators.
The Klang Valley logged the highest daily admission at 281, with 226 in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur (29) and Putrajaya (26).
Other states that reported new admissions were Johor (214), Kedah (34), Kelantan (99), Malacca (24), Negri Sembilan (59), Pahang (42), Perak (50), Perlis (13), Penang (39), Sabah (116), Sarawak (70), Terengganu (85) and Labuan (2).
Kelantan reported the highest utilisation with 85.3% of bed space taken. Meanwhile, the utilisation for ventilators was 55.1% and ICUs at 73.0%.
As of midnight, there were 60,856 active Covid-19 cases in the country. Of this number, there were 419 cases in ICUs, with 232 of them on ventilators.
Meanwhile, 49,791 patients were in home quarantine, 5,901 admitted to low-risk quarantine centres and 4,745 hospitalised.
As of noon yesterday, 5.446 new infections were reported.
Selangor logged the highest number of infections with 1,467.
Other states and territories that recorded new cases were Johor (551), Kedah (338), Kelantan (495), Malacca (373), Negri Sembilan (236), Pahang (438), Perak (244), Perlis (40), Penang (275), Sabah (329), Sarawak (90), Terengganu (202), Kuala Lumpur (315), Labuan (21) and Putrajaya (32). – December 10, 2021.
