A TOTAL of 1,118 people were hospitalised with Covid-19 yesterday, the Health Ministry reported.
Yesterday’s figure is an increase from the previous day when 1,036 admissions were reported.
Overall hospital bed utilisation nationwide was at 67.7%, of which 36% were Covid-19 patients.
Hospital admission indicates the severity of the virus, while hospital utilisation includes bed usage, as well as the number of patients in intensive care units (ICUs) and on ventilators.
The Klang Valley logged the highest daily admission at 297, with 246 in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur (31) and Putrajaya (20).
Other states that reported new admissions were Johor (216), Kedah (40), Kelantan (77), Malacca (13), Negri Sembilan (70), Pahang (47), Perak (60), Perlis (15), Penang (37), Sabah (127), Sarawak (46), Terengganu (71) and Labuan (2).
Terengganu reported the highest utilisation with 85.1% of bed space taken. Meanwhile, the utilisation for ventilators was 43.4% and ICUs was 49.2%.
As of midnight, there were 60,878 active Covid-19 cases in Malaysia. Of this number, there were 428 cases in ICUs, with 237 of them on ventilators.
Meanwhile, 49,644 patients were in home quarantine, 5,996 admitted to low-risk quarantine centres and 4,810 hospitalised.
As of noon yesterday, 5,020 new infections were reported.
Selangor logged the highest number of infections with 1,465.
Other states and territories that recorded new cases were Johor (407), Kedah (404), Kelantan (503), Malacca (129), Negri Sembilan (251), Pahang (413), Perak (183), Perlis (33), Penang (291), Sabah (322), Sarawak (55), Terengganu (211), Kuala Lumpur (316), Labuan (12) and Putrajaya (25). – December 9, 2021.
