THERE were 5,020 Covid-19 cases detected in the past 24 hours, the first time in four days that the country reported more than five thousand infections, said Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.
Case numbers were in the 4,000 range over the past four days.
The new infections take the total number of cases reported in the country to 2,673,019.
The breakdown of cases according to states will be uploaded to the CovidNow website after midnight.
Meanwhile, there were 1,036 people admitted to hospital yesterday. Some 67.6% of hospital beds nationwide are occupied, of which 39.2% are Covid-19 patients.
Noor Hisham said the country’s infection rate is currently at 0.99, up from 0.95 last week. – December 8, 2021.
