THE Kuala Lumpur High Court today deferred Rosmah Mansor’s solar hybrid trial after as she was flagged as a “close contact” of a Covid-19-positive individual.

Rosmah’s lead counsel, Jagjit Singh said that his client was present at court today but was not able to enter the premises due to her MySejahtera status. However, he was unsure if she was a close contact or a casual contact.

“She arrived here (at the court) but since she was not allowed inside the court premises, we told her to stay in the car.

“Her MySejahtera status showed the second tier, which I believe it is an orange status as she has been in close contact with her husband, Najib Razak, whose MySejahtera status is red,” Jagjit told the court today.

High Court judge Mohamad Zaini Mazlan immediately queried if Najib was tested positive for Covid-19, to which Jagjit replied he was unsure.

“I won’t say he (Najib) is,” Jagjit replied.

Zaini said will not permit entry to anyone whose MySejahtera status shows close or casual contact.

He added that only those with a blue (low-risk, no symptoms) status will be allowed to enter court.

“Even if I were to insist on her entering the premises, the security downstairs will not permit her to enter,” Zaini said.

Zaini said he had no choice but to adjourn the hearing today because of Rosmah’s situation and also deferred the trial tomorrow as lead prosecutor Gopal Sri Ram would not be able to attend.

Zaini then instructed the defence to check and update Rosmah’s MySejahtera status.

Sri Ram will continue his cross-examination on Friday.

The 69-year-old faces three corruption charges, one of which is for soliciting RM187.5 million as inducement to help a company secure a RM1.25 billion contract to equip 369 schools with solar energy.
She is also accused of receiving bribes totalling RM6.5 million in 2016 and 2017. – December 8, 2021.
