940 hospitalised with Covid

THE Health Ministry reported under 940 hospital admissions for Covid-19 yesterday, the CovidNow website showed.

It is a significant decline from the 1,037 admissions the day before.

The hospital bed utilisation rate stood at 62.3% with coronavirus patients making up 32.3%.

The hospital admission rate indicates the severity of the virus. 

Hospital utilisation includes bed usage as well as the number of patients in intensive care and on ventilators

The Klang Valley had the highest daily admissions at 318 while Selangor reported 271 new admissions, Kuala Lumpur saw 28 while Putrajaya logged 19.

Other states that reported new admissions were Johor (151), Kedah (43), Kelantan (74), Malacca (18), Negeri Sembilan (42), Pahang (34), Perak (38), Perlis (11), Penang (17), Sabah (97), Sarawak (35) and Terengganu (62).

Labuan did not report any hospital admissions.

In terms of hospital utilisation rate, Terengganu was the highest with 85.1% of bed capacity at hospitals taken up.

The utilisation rate for ventilators was at 42.3% and ICUs was 61.3%.

There were 61,999 active Covid-19 cases in Malaysia as of last night. Of this number, 471 patients were treated at ICUs with 264 patients on ventilator support.

There were 51,260 patients under home quarantine, 5,899 were admitted to low risk quarantine centres while 4,369 were hospitalised.

Yesterday saw 4,298 new infections.

Selangor logged the highest number of infections with 1,160 cases.

Other states that recorded new cases were Kelantan (434), Sabah (366), Johor (346), Kedah (324), Pahang (278), Penang (261), Sarawak (292), Perak (254), Terengganu (228), Sabah (294), Sarawak (71), Terengganu (235), Kuala Lumpur (221), Malacca (259), Negri Sembilan (107), Putrajaya (33), Perlis (17) and Labuan (11). – December 6, 2021.
