UNIVERSITI Utara Malaysia academic Dr Kamarul Yusoff is urging more academics to join his call to ask the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to deregister DAP.

In a Facebook posting this morning, Kamarul said some 100 have already agreed to sign a memorandum to the ROS to issue a show-cause letter to the DAP on why it should not be deregistered.

“The main reason behind the memorandum is to question why many of DAP’s activities are against Islam’s position as the religion of Malaysia and the position of Malays and Bumiputeras,” wrote Kamarul.

The basis for the memorandum is based on Section 2A(1) of the Societies Act that says it is the obligation of each registered society to ensure that their activities do not challenge Islam as the religion of Malaysia, or the position of Malays and Bumiputeras in the country, said Kamarul.

“Another law we can use Section 13 (1) (c) of the Societies Act which says that the Registrar can deregister any society if it has broken the law, or is against the peace and harmony of the Federation,” he said.

According to Kamarul, there are more than 100 local academics including 18 professors and 24 emiratus professors who have agreed to the memorandum in their personal capacities.

The academics, he added, were from 21 local universities including Universiti Malaya, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

“Those local academics who want to sign this memorandum can contact me. The only condition is that they should have a PhD,” said Kamarul.

The UUM political science academic came into prominence last week when he lodged a police report against Selangor Speaker Hannah Yeoh over her autobiography “Becoming Hannah”.

He said on his Facebook page that her book contained references to Christianity and claimed that she was attempting to proselytise Malay Muslims with her book. – May 22, 2017.

  • This feeble mind is merely using Islam as an excuse to draw attention to himself. he probably wants to be fielded as a candidate in the next GE or is probably lobbying for a promotion. But either way, his antics will only attract more scorn and embarrassment to Muslims and Islam. It truly cheapens the religion when opportunists like this guy misuse it for selfish reasons.
