SEKOLAH Seri Puteri in Cyberjaya has been ordered to close temporarily following the detection of 135 new Covid-19 cases, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.
He said the order was issued under section 18 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 for sanitisation and disinfection.
“The Covid-19 cluster at Sekolah Seri Puteri, Cyberjaya is named Persiaran Tasik cluster,” he said in a statement today.
Noor Hisham said as at today, 973 school residents have been screened and 135 new cases were detected in the cluster, bringing the overall Covid-19 cases in the cluster to 143 people – 114 students, 19 teachers and 10 school employees.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin yesterday announced 73 new cases – two teachers and 71 students.
“A briefing for the parent-teacher association of the school was held. Monitoring will go on to ensure the cluster is contained,” Noor Hisham said.
He said of the 143 Coivd-19 infections, 106 cases are in category 1, 35 in category 2A and two in category 2B. All are in stable condition.
“All infected students and a teacher are admitted to MAEPS (Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang) for treatment and monitoring,” he said.
He also said 700 close contacts – 603 students, 59 teachers and 38 staff members – have been identified. They are quarantined in their respective homes, he added. – Bernama, December 3, 2021.
