Malaysia logs 47 new Covid-19 deaths

THE Health Ministry reported 47 new Covid-19 deaths in the past 24 hours, all of which were backlog cases.

This is a drop from 49 fatalities reported a day earlier. 

The country has now recorded a total of 30,521 deaths since the start of the epidemic. 

According to the ministry’s GitHub raw data repository, 12 out of the 47 were dead on arrival. 

The ministry derives the daily figure from the sum total of the number of reported deaths on a given day, including backlog cases just confirmed by health authorities after completing their clinical investigations. 

Selangor continues to log the highest number of deaths with nine, followed by Kelantan, Perak and Sabah with six each.  

Other states and territories that reported new deaths yesterday were Penang and Terengganu (5), Kuala Lumpur (3), Johor (2) and one each in Kedah, Malacca, Negri Sembilan, Sarawak and Labuan. 

No deaths was recorded in Pahang, Perlis and Putrajaya.  

According to the CovidNow website, the national average for coronavirus deaths per population of one million over two weeks was 16 fatalities, with Terengganu topping the chart at 49 deaths per million people. – December 3, 2021.
