MOH reports 1,122 Covid hospital admissions

The number of hospital admissions for Covid-19 increased by more than 100 yesterday, to 1,122 from the previous day’s figure of 1,009. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, December 1, 2021.

A TOTAL of 1,122 people were admitted to hospital with Covid-19 yesterday, up from 1,009 the previous day, according to the CovidNow website.

Overall hospital bed utilisation was at 68.7%, while for Covid-19 it was 37.6%.

Hospital admission indicates the spread of the virus, while hospital utilisation includes bed usage, as well as the number of patients in intensive care units (ICU) and on ventilators.

There were 289 admissions in the Klang Valley, the highest by state or region, 226 of which were in Selangor, 45 in Kuala Lumpur and 18 in Putrajaya.

Other states and territories reporting new admissions were Johor (216), Kedah (34), Kelantan (87), Malacca (32), Negri Sembilan (47), Pahang (67), Perak (72), Perlis (9), Penang (23), Sabah (106), Sarawak (78), Terengganu (62).

Labuan did not report any hospital admissions.

Meanwhile, Malacca was running at 86.5% bed utilisation, the highest by state. Utilisation for ventilators was at 39.6% and ICU was 62%.

There were 65,153 active Covid-19 cases in Malaysia as of last night. Of this number, 509 patients were treated at ICUs with 252 of them on ventilator support.

Meanwhile, 52,954 patients were placed in home quarantine, 6,539 were admitted to low-risk quarantine centres while 5,151 were hospitalised.

Malaysia reported 4,879 new cases yesterday, 1,097 of which were in Selangor.

Other states and territories that recorded new cases were Kelantan (574), Sabah (543), Johor (494), Kedah (412), Pahang (321), Penang (311), Sarawak (292), Perak (210), Terengganu (202), Sabah (401), Sarawak (98), Terengganu (200), Kuala Lumpur (388), Malacca (139), Negri Sembilan (148), Putrajaya (40), Perlis (44) and Labuan (2). – December 1, 2021.
