PULAI lawmaker Salahuddin Ayub has filed a motion in Parliament to debate the drastic price hike in goods immediately.
Posting on his Twitter account today, Salahuddin said he had received an appeal from businessman Syamsuri Mohd Zain on the drastic price hikes.
“The issue of price hikes has affected the cost of living and the pressure has affected both consumers and retailers.
“I believe this is an issue of public interest and in line with Standing Order 18 (1)(2), I hereby file a motion to discuss this issue in Parliament,” said the Amanah leader.
The tweet, which was posted at 3.59pm today, includes copies of the appeal to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Azhar Azizan Harun.
Earlier today, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi told Parliament that the government will sell food and goods cheaply in a twice-monthly Keluarga Malaysia sale to help people cope with rising living costs,
Additionally, enforcement officers will also conduct price checks on 1,500 outlets selling essential goods, said the Kapit MP. – November 30, 2021.
