MIRI mayor Adam Yii is expected to be fielded as the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate for the Pujut constituency in the 12th Sarawak state elections on December 18.

Yii, who is the chairman of the Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Pujut branch, said if given the opportunity, he will serve to the best of his ability.

“There is a possibility (to be a candidate). So we have to wait for the GPS chairman (Abang Johari Openg) to announce,” he told reporters in Miri today.

Yii said although Pujut was won by DAP in the last two state elections, the situation has changed and SUPP will be going all out to capture the seat.

Yii is well known among the constituents and is considered to be a suitable candidate for GPS.

In the last elections, SUPP candidate Hii King Chiong lost in the contest for the Pujut seat to DAP’s Dr Ting Tiong Choon by a majority of 1,759 votes. – Bernama, November 27, 2021.
