1,177 hospitalised with Covid yesterday

COVID-19 hospitalisations totalled 1,177 yesterday, down from 1,181 admissions the day before, the Health Ministry said.

The hospital utilisation rate has also decreased from 70.5% the day before to 67.9% yesterday, of which 39.3% are Covid-19-related cases.

There were 329 hospitalisations in the Klang Valley while its hospital utilisation rate stood at 59%.

Selangor reported 282 admissions, Kuala Lumpur (27) and Putrajaya (20).

Other states that reported new admissions were Johor with 208, Kedah (42), Kelantan (106), Malacca (23), Negri Sembilan (47), Pahang (34), Perak (68), Perlis (12), Penang (26), Sabah (121), Sarawak (83) and Terengganu (78).

Labuan is the only territory that did not record any admissions. 

Malaysia also reported 5,481 new Covid-19 infections yesterday, down from 6,144 the previous day. 

The Klang Valley accounted for the highest number of cases at 1,948, with 1,479 from Selangor, Kuala Lumpur (400) and Putrajaya (69).

Other states that reported cases are Johor (430), Kedah (428), Kelantan (442), Malacca (229), Negri Sembilan (159), Pahang (358), Perak (262), Perlis (30), Penang (369), Sabah (486), Sarawak (144), Terengganu (189) and Labuan (27). 

With the addition of new cases, there are now 67,757 active Covid-19 cases in the country. 

Around 54,020 or 80% of these active cases are under home quarantine, 7,474 (11.1%) are in government quarantine centres while 5,534 (8.2%) are hospitalised. 

There are 519 people in intensive care units, with 267 on ventilators. 

Yesterday, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin warned that almost all states and territories in the country have shown an increase in Covid-19 cases and hospital admissions after cross-border travel restrictions were lifted.

The health minister said bed utilisation, including that for those in critical care, is fast rising.  

Khairy said Covid-19 patients from categories 1 to 5 treated at health facilities across the country are increasing. – November 27, 2021.
