PRIMARY school children below the eligible age to receive Covid-19 vaccine jabs will need to undergo weekly testing as part of the national testing strategy, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said.

He said the testing needs to be carried out on at least 10% of the student population and that it will need to be done on a rotational basis.

“Ten per cent sampling test must be done at primary schools on a rotational basis,” he said at a press conference in Putrajaya today.

“If they are symptomatic, then they must get tested. But if no symptoms, then the primary schools must do sample testing on 10% of the student population to ensure there is no emergence of Covid-19 clusters or infections.”

Khairy said the national testing strategy, which has been postponed before, will begin on Monday.

“The national testing strategy will clearly outline when and who should do the test, and what types of tests needed to be done, either RT-PCR or self-tests,” he added. – November 26, 2021.
