47 new Covid-19 deaths, MOH says

THERE were 47 Covid-19 deaths as of midnight, the Health Ministry reported.

According to its GitHub database, all of the deaths were backlog cases with 10 classified dead on arrival.

The ministry derives the daily figure from the sum total of the number of reported deaths on a given day, including backlog cases only just confirmed by the health authorities after completing their clinical investigations.

Kelantan recorded the highest number of new deaths at eight, accounting for 17% of the newly reported fatalities.

Other states and territories that recorded deaths were Sabah (7), Malacca (5), Selangor (5), Johor (4), Penang (4), Sarawak (4), Kedah (3), Pahang (3), Terengganu (2), Perak (1) and Kuala Lumpur (1).

No new deaths were reported in Negri Sembilan, Perlis, Labuan and Putrajaya.

To date, 1,297 Covid-19 deaths have been reported this month.

There were 68,625 active Covid-19 cases in Malaysia as of last night. Among these, 532 patients were in ICU, 266 of which were on ventilator support.

Meanwhile, 54,940 patients were in home quarantine, 7,529 in low-risk quarantine centres and 5,624 were hospitalised. – November 24, 2021.
