Govt urged to establish multi-stream unity schools

A multi-stream unity school will have various streams, but students will be in one compound and able to study and play together without forgetting their origins, says the Kinabatangan MP. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, November 23, 2021.

THE Kinabatangan MP has suggested the government to establish multi-stream unity schools to further promote unity.

Bung Moktar Radin said although the schools will have various streams, students will be in one compound and able to study and play together without forgetting their origins.

“We have achieved our independence for more than 60 years. Sometimes, it embarrasses me to talk about unity. How can there be unity in our country when we have created division in children’s minds with national schools, and Chinese and Tamil schools since the start. What unity is this?

“There can be streaming of classrooms. Create a situation where they can sit under one roof, share the hall, canteen and field, then it will promote unity,” he said during a debate session on Supply Bill 2022 at the committee level for the National Unity Ministry in the Dewan Rakyat today.

Bung said if unity in the country is well-managed, outsiders will not disrupt the harmony because they will realise the importance of unity.

To a question from Ipoh Barat MP M. Kulasegaran on SK Wawasan, he said the implementation has not been carried out well.

“If we want to see unity in future, we have to provide a new platform for the people, otherwise they will accuse us, as parents, of not being responsible for creating unity in the country for them.” – Bernama, November 23, 2021.
