MOH reports 63 Covid-19 deaths

The Ministry of Health says Terengganu has logged 51 fatalities per population of 1 million over the past two weeks, the highest rate by state or territory. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, November 23, 2021.

THE Ministry of Health reported 63 Covid-19 deaths in the 24 hours to midnight last night, which takes the nationwide virus death toll to 30,063.

According to the ministry, all 63 deaths were backlog cases.

According to the Health Ministry’s Git.hub raw data repository, 13 out of the 63 victims were pronounced dead on arrival.

The ministry derives the daily figure from the sum total of the number of reported deaths on a given day, including backlog cases only just confirmed by the health authorities after completing their clinical investigations.

Selangor logged 14 deaths, the highest by state or territory, followed by Johor with 11.

Other states and federal territories that reported new deaths yesterday were Sabah (9); Terengganu and Perak (7); Kedah and Kuala Lumpur (4); Kelantan and Sarawak (2); and Malacca, Negri Sembilan and Pahang (1).

Penang, Perlis, Labuan and Putrajaya did not report any deaths.

Meanwhile, according to the CovidNow website, the national average of deaths per population of 1 million over a period of two weeks was 17 fatalities, while Terengganu recorded the highest among the states with 51 fatalities per population of 1 million – November 23, 2021.
