MALAYSIA reported 1,236 Covid-19 hospital admissions as of midnight, according to the CovidNow website.
Overall hospital utilisation rate dropped from 70.6% the day before to 68.5%, of which 40.1% are Covid-19 cases.
Hospital admission indicates the severity of the virus, while hospital utilisation includes bed usage, as well as the number of patients in intensive care units (ICU) and on ventilators.
The Klang Valley reported 310 admissions – the highest by state, territory or region.
On a seven-day average, the region logged a 2% decrease in hospitalisation with 324 admissions, and 62% bed utilisation rate.
Selangor reported 248 admissions, Kuala Lumpur (41) and Putrajaya (21).
Other states that reported new admissions are Johor with 212, Sabah (108), Sarawak (101), Perak (65), Malacca (58), Negri Sembilan (51), Pahang (46), Kedah (36), Penang (36), Perlis (11) and Labuan (3).
The Klang Valley claimed 2,143 of the 6,355 Covid-19 cases yesterday, an increase from the 1,582 infections the day before.
Selangor reported 1,737 cases, Kuala Lumpur (324) and Putrajaya (82).
Other states that recorded infections are Kelantan (735), Sabah (543), Johor (497), Kedah (407), Pahang (358), Penang (356), Sarawak (292), Perak (284), Terengganu (258), Malacca (233), Negri Sembilan (214), Perlis (16) and Labuan (19).
The number of active cases now stands at 68,637, of which, 54,174 (78.9%) are under home quarantine, 8,268 (12%) in quarantine centres and 5,653 (8.2%) hospitalised.
A total of 542 patients are in ICU, of which 268 are on ventilators. – November 20, 2021.
