MALAYSIA logged 1,247 Covid-19 hospital admissions as of midnight with a utilisation rate of 71.6%, the CovidNow website showed.
There was an increase in overall bed utilisation in hospitals.
Hospital utilisation includes the usage of beds, the number of patients in intensive care units, as well as those on ventilators, and hospital admission indicates the severity of the virus.
There were 349 admissions in the Klang Valley, the highest by state, territory or region.
On a seven-day average, the region recorded a 17% increase in hospitalisations with 335 admissions, while bed utilisation stood at 62%.
Selangor reported 291 admissions, Kuala Lumpur (34) and Putrajaya (24).
Meanwhile, Terengganu saw a drop in its utilisation rate from 91.5% the previous day to 89.5% with an increase of 72 admissions.
Other states reporting new hospital admissions were Johor with 228, Sarawak (123), Sabah and Kelantan (105), Negri Sembilan (51), Perak (57), Kedah (50), Pahang (43), Malacca (14), Penang (34), Perlis (10) and Labuan (6).
Meanwhile, the Klang Valley contributed 2,046 of the nation’s 6,288 cases yesterday.
This is the second time since last Friday that the region recorded more than 2,000 infections.
Selangor reported 1,615 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (403) and Putrajaya (28).
Other states that reported new infections were Johor (538), Kedah (425), Kelantan (805), Malacca (137), Negri Sembilan (244), Pahang (377), Perak (243), Perlis (27), Penang (221), Sabah (599), Sarawak (300), Terengganu (299) and Labuan (28).
As of yesterday, there were 66,793 active Covid-19 cases, an increase from 65,316 the day before.
Meanwhile, 52,235 patients are in home quarantine, 8,242 in low-risk quarantine centres and 5,780 hospitalised. – November 18, 2021.
