BARISAN Nasional (BN) chairman Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has refuted claims that Sulaiman Md Ali will only be the interim Malacca chief minister if the coalition wins the state elections this Saturday.
In a post on Facebook, the Umno president urged voters not to be influenced by such a rumour.
“To voters and the people of Malacca, don’t listen! Don’t be fooled. There is no such thing as an interim chief minister,” he said.
Sulaiman has been named BN’s chief minister candidate should the pact secure victory on Saturday.
Pakatan Harapan (PH) named Adly Zahari, who is contesting for the Bukit Katil seat, as its chief minister candidate.
Sulaiman, who is the Lendu seat incumbent, is going up against Major (R) Abdullah Mahadi of Perikatan Nasional, and PH’s Mohamad Asri Ibrahim.
The state elections were called following the dissolution of the state assembly on October 4, after four reps withdrew their support for Sulaiman. – Bernama, November 17, 2021.
