MALAYSIA logged 1,146 Covid-19 hospital admissions as of midnight with utilisation at 68.7%, the CovidNow website showed.
There was an increase in overall bed utilisation in hospitals – including non-Covid cases – and Covid-19 utilisation increased to 39.7%.
Hospital utilisation includes the usage of beds, the number of patients in intensive care units, as well as those on ventilators, and hospital admission indicates the severity of the virus.
While hospital admissions have been hovering below 1,500, its hospital utilisation rate is seeing an upward trend.
There were 269 admissions in the Klang Valley, the highest by state, territory or region.
On a seven-day average, the region recorded a 20% increase in hospitalisations with 342 admissions, while bed utilisation stood at 60%.
Selangor reported 221 admissions, Kuala Lumpur (28) and Putrajaya (20).
Meanwhile, Terengganu continued to record the highest utilisation rate of 86.3% compared with the day before with 64 admissions.
Other states reporting new hospital admissions were Johor with 214, Sarawak (126), Sabah (84), Kelantan (123), Negri Sembilan (71), Perak (63), Kedah (48), Pahang (23), Malacca (28), Penang (23), Perlis (5) and Labuan (3).
Meanwhile, the Klang Valley contributed 1,418 of the nation’s 5,143 cases yesterday.
Selangor reported 1,144 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (222) and Putrajaya (52).
Other states that reported new infections were Johor (444), Kedah (398), Kelantan (706), Malacca (160), Negri Sembilan (239), Pahang (267), Perak (202), Perlis (8), Penang (220), Sabah (500), Sarawak (287), Terengganu (282) and Labuan (12).
As of yesterday, there were 65,956 active Covid-19 cases, 51,619 patients in home quarantine, 8,035 admitted to low-risk quarantine centres and 5,776 hospitalised. – November 16, 2021.
