PERIKATAN Nasional (PN) today promised to help maintain registered tahfiz schools in Malacca should the coalition win in the upcoming state elections.

Its chairman Muhyiddin Yassin said this evening that all tahfiz school teachers will also receive a one-off RM200 cash handout.

“PN will pay attention to the management of tahfiz schools and to ensure a conducive environment, maintenance will be provided to all registered tahfiz schools.

“A one-off RM200 cash handout will also be given to tahfiz teachers, kafa teachers and kindergarten teachers registered under the state religious body,” said Muhyiddin at the Glenmarie Hotel and Golf Resort.

He launched PN’s election manifesto in Shah Alam themed “Melaka Bangkit Gemilang”.

The former prime minister also said that PN would be forming a youth state legislative assembly in an effort to produce more future leaders from Malacca.

“We will form a youth state legislative assembly to polish and produce future leaders from Malacca,” he added.

In another incentive, PN will also give out RM200 to all of the state’s newborn in 2021.

As part of efforts to help lift the Malacca’s tourism economy following the Covid-19 epidemic, Muhyiddin said that PN would restore as well as conserve historical sites and strengthen the state’s medical tourism sector.

“As a historical city, Malacca is a well-known state for tourism and because it is so popular, its roads are always congested.

“PN will build more multistorey parking to reduce traffic. We will increase the quality and capacity of stop-transit, vehicle-free day in the state as well as to promote Malacca as a recreational destination, such as for extreme sports and water sports,” he added.

Malacca will go to the polls on November 20 and campaigning is under way with strict Covid-19 standard operating procedure in place.

Bersatu-led PN, Umno-dominated Barisan Nasional and PKR-led Pakatan Harapan will contest in all 28 seats in the state.

The elections in Malacca is called following the dissolution of the state assembly on October 4 after four state assemblymen withdrew support for the Chief Minister Sulaiman Md Ali. – November 14, 2021.
