Kedah bans sale of 4D tickets to curb gambling

THE PAS-led Kedah government will ban all four-digit (4D) outlet operations in the state, Kedah Menteri Besar Sanusi Md Nor said.

According to Sanusi, the state will not renew the business licences for these outlets, which were issued by local authorities.

Sanusi said the decision will take effect from next year, adding that the move will help tackle the ills resulting from gambling.

PAS governments in Kelantan and Terengganu have also put in place similar decisions.

“This is to ensure a Kedah free of gambling, as we all know it has caused the collapse of family institutions and even civilisations, besides resulting in debt problems.

“Those who want to buy 4D can go to Penang,” he was quoted as saying in a press conference at the Kedah assembly today.

The state government tabled its annual budget today.

Sanusi also said the state will look at imposing controls on the sale of liquor in the parts of Kedah where demand was low. – November 14, 2021.
