Malaysia posts lower Covid deaths for 3rd straight day with 41 fatalities

TH Health Ministry yesterday reported 41 coronavirus deaths, a drop for the third consecutive day despite rising new infections. 

The GitHub raw data repository showed all the deaths were backlog cases. This takes the death toll in the country to 29,576. 

Of the 41 deaths, eight were classified dead on arrival (DOA), taking the toll in this category to 5,983. 

The daily death figure is the sum total of the number of reported fatalities on the day plus cases just confirmed by the health authorities to be due to Covid-19.

For the second day in a row, Sabah logged the most number of Covid-19 deaths with 10. The East Malaysian state posted 12 fatalities the day before. 

Selangor and Sarawak reported nine and six deaths, respectively.

Other states and territories reporting new coronavirus deaths were Penang with five, Perak and Kelantan (3 each), Negri Sembilan (2), Johor, Perlis and Kuala Lumpur (1 each).

No virus-linked deaths were reported in Kedah, Malacca, Pahang, Terengganu, Labuan and Putrajaya. 

Meanwhile, the eight DOA cases took place in Sabah (5) and Perak, Sarawak and Selangor (1 each) one each.

Over a two-week period, Selangor reported 66 deaths, increasing the number of Covid fatalities by 47%.  

Despite daily virus deaths dropping for three consecutive days, the country’s fatality rate rose to 1% yesterday, with the national average for coronavirus deaths at 16 per population of one million. – November 13, 2021.
