MALAYSIA reported 49 Covid-19-related deaths as of midnight, all of them backlog cases, the Health Ministry said.
The number of Covid-19 deaths has declined in the past two days despite a surge in new infections in the country.
According to the ministry’s GitHub raw data repository, of the 49 fatalities, 14 were declared dead on arrival (DOA).
The latest number of fatalities now takes the national death tally to 29,535, while the toll under the DOA category is at 5,975.
The daily death figure is the sum total of the number of reported fatalities on the day plus cases just confirmed by the health authorities to be due to Covid-19 after clinical investigation.
Sabah recorded the most number of deaths yesterday with 12, followed by Perak with nine.
The remaining deaths were reported in Selangor and Sarawak (7 each), Terengganu (6), Kelantan (3), Johor (2), Kedah, Pahang and Kuala Lumpur (1 each).
No coronavirus-related deaths was reported in Malacca, Negri Sembilan, Perlis, Penang, Labuan and Putrajaya.
Of the 14 DOA cases, seven deaths were recorded in Sabah, three each in Sarawak and Perak, and one in Selangor.
Over a two-week period, Selangor reported 63 deaths, increasing its toll by whopping 68%.
The national average for coronavirus deaths stands at 17 per population of one million with the country’s current fatality rate at 0.9%. – November 12, 2021.
