THE Health Ministry reported 59 Covid-19 fatalities as of midnight, a drop from 78 reported a day before.
According to the ministry’s Git.Hub raw data repository, all deaths were backlog cases with none of them occurring yesterday.
This brings the death toll in the country to 29,486.
The data also showed that 10 of 59 deaths were dead on arrival, taking the toll in this category to 5,961.
The daily death figure is the sum total of the number of reported fatalities on the day plus cases just confirmed by the health authorities to be due to Covid-19 after clinical investigation.
The East Malaysian states of Sarawak and Sabah were the biggest contributors of the deaths yesterday with a combined 23 cases.
Sarawak logged 12 deaths while Sabah had 11.
The remaining deaths were reported in Perak (8), Kedah (5), Kelantan, Penang and Terengganu (4 each), Selangor and Kuala Lumpur (3 each), Johor (2), Malacca, Negri Sembilan and Pahang (1 each).
No coronavirus-related deaths was reported in Perlis, Labuan and Putrajaya.
Over the two-week period, Selangor had reported 59 deaths, increasing its toll by 26%.
The national average for coronavirus deaths stands at 17 per population of one million with the country’s current fatality rate at 0.9%. – November 11, 2021.
