1,311 hospitalised with Covid yesterday

MALAYSIA recorded 1,311 Covid-19 hospital admissions yesterday, with its current utilisation rate of healthcare facilities at 67.8%.

The figures are an increase from yesterday’s 1,118 admissions and a utilisation rate of 65.7%. 

The graphs for each state on the CovidNow portal showed that nearly all states are showing a downward trend in hospitalisation rate, which is one of the country’s indicators on the severity of Covid-19 infections.

The Klang Valley recorded the highest hospital admissions yesterday with 320, the website showed.

The populous region continues to report a decline in its hospital admission by 12% on a seven-day average, and its current utilisation rate stands at 57.7%.

Selangor reported 263 admissions, Kuala Lumpur (33) and Putrajaya (24).

Other states that reported hospital admissions yesterday were Johor with 184 admissions, followed by Sarawak (191), Kelantan (130), Sabah (115), Pahang (44), Terengganu (72), Perak (67), Kedah (46), Negri Sembilan (68), Penang (37), Perlis (9), Malacca (26) and Labuan (2).

Meanwhile, Selangor accounted for the bulk of new infections yesterday with 1,080.

Kuala Lumpur reported a spike in cases of 413 cases after reporting fewer than 300 cases the past few weeks. 

Other states that reported new infections were Johor (385), Kedah (412), Kelantan (792), Malacca (200), Negri Sembilan (160), Pahang (258), Perak (161), Perlis (35), Penang (245), Sabah (545), Sarawak (416), Terengganu (246), Labuan (7) and Putrajaya (48).

As of yesterday, there were 61,803 active Covid-19 cases. This is a reduction of 7.6% from the 66,891 caseload a week ago.

Compared with 30 days ago, the number of active cases has plateaued by 47.0% from 116,630.

Meanwhile, 48,058 patients are in home quarantine, 7,703 admitted to low-risk quarantine centres and 5,500 hospitalised. – November 10, 2021.
