MALAYSIA recorded 1,118 Covid-19 hospital admissions yesterday, with its current utilisation rate of healthcare facilities at 65.7%. 

The graphs for each state on the CovidNow portal showed that nearly all states are showing a downward trend in hospitalisation rate, which is one of the country’s indicators on the severity of Covid-19 infections.

The Klang Valley recorded the highest hospital admissions yesterday with 258, the website showed. 

While the populous region reported a 16% decline in hospital admission on a seven-day average, its current utilisation rate stood at 56.6%. 

Selangor reported 204 admissions, Kuala Lumpur (33) and Putrajaya (21). 

Other states that reported hospital admissions yesterday were Johor with 208 admissions, followed by Sarawak (157), Kelantan (116), Sabah (87), Pahang (63), Terengganu (55), Perak (48), Kedah (40), Negri Sembilan (26), Penang (25), Perlis (19), Malacca (15) and Labuan (1). 

Meanwhile, Kelantan accounted for the bulk of new infections yesterday with 820.

Other states that reported new infections were Johor (302), Kedah (325), Selangor (809), Malacca (168), Negri Sembilan (191), Pahang (273), Perak (208), Perlis (25), Penang (256), Sabah (364), Sarawak (385), Terengganu (210), Kuala Lumpur (174), Labuan (5) and Putrajaya (28). 

As of yesterday, there were 61,760 active Covid-19 cases. This is a reduction of 8.1% from the 67,233 caseload a week ago.

Compared with 30 days ago, the number of active cases has plateaued by 48.6% from 120,246.

Meanwhile, 48,042 patients are in home quarantine, 7,698 admitted to low-risk quarantine centres and 5,486 hospitalised. – November 9, 2021.
