PKR Selangor has identified its list of candidates and the seats they intend to contest in the next general election, but discussions with other opposition partners have yet to be concluded, said Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali.
Azmin said the party is ready for the elections, which must be held by August, but added that a few seats have yet to be confirmed and approved by party leaders.
Azmin said the discussion process on seat allocations has been “complicated”, but dismissed rumours of an impasse between fellow Pakatan Harapan parties.
“It’s not true (that) there is any individual who is trying to discredit any other parties. That’s why we know how many (seats) Amanah, Bersatu and Keadilan requested,” he said.
“If we did not have any discussion, how would we know where they would like to contest?
“The process is definitely complicated but I can see that it headed to a positive direction to ensure a victory,” said Azmin.
It was reported previously that there appears to be some confusion with the seat negotiations for PH Selangor as PKR is the only component party that insists formal negotiations have started.
PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin issued a statement on Friday denying Amanah’s claim that a committee had yet to be formed to discuss seat negotiations.
She said four rounds of talks have already been held by the state PH elections committee headed by Dr Xavier Jeyakumar.
However DAP Selangor chairman Tony Pua said he had no idea there were ongoing talks for PH Selangor. – January 29, 2018.
