PAS will not hesitate to act against anyone who tries to meddle in its efforts to unite Muslims, party president Abdul Hadi Awang warned today.

He said the party was aware of some Muslims challenging its attempts to unite Muslims under the true teachings of Islam.

“Surah Al-Hujurat has given instructions for us to try to improve relations between Muslims who are in conflict.

“However, if there is still an extreme party, then we are allowed to act as necessary so that we can return to the teachings of Islam and strengthen the Islamic brotherhood that has been built,” he said in his speech at PAS’s 67th annual general assembly in Terengganu this morning.

He also said PAS must learn from its past experience to unite Malay-Muslim parties at the political core of the country.

He said this included rescuing Umno, which was badly defeated in the 14th general election and Bersatu.

“Both these parties have been successfully rediscovered by PAS through the unification of Muafakat Nasional (MN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN), with the role of PAS as a peacemaker,” he said.

However, in recent months PAS’s relationship with Umno has cooled, with the Islamist party seen to be moving closer to Bersatu in PN.

Hadi also said the effort to unite the ummah was not easy because it required determination, great soul, mutual tolerance, and patience in order to achieve the desired success.

“We must face GE15 with the unity that is being built today. There should not be any division due to greed, selfishness, or revenge – to avoid a repeat of GE14,” he said. – November 6, 2021.

  • The only person who is breaking up muslim unity is the man you look at in the mirror.

  • Create a false bogeyman to divert attention from the mess the country is in. Using religion and race at every opportunity they have to fuel their (politicians) selfish personal agenda

  • Unity amongst Muslims is a myth. Banging on about it is divisive and energy wasting. Unity amongst Malaysians is the key and that should be the focus, inclusive government.
