Selangor posts highest number of new Covid cases at 1,075

SELANGOR continued to log the highest number of daily Covid-19 infections, with 1,075 cases reported yesterday, the Health Ministry said.

It accounted for the bulk of yesterday’s 1,313 daily cases in the Klang Valley, which comprises Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

Kuala Lumpur reported 201 cases and Putrajaya, 37.

Meanwhile, Sabah recorded 554 cases, followed by Sarawak (496), Johor (405), Kelantan (398), Kedah (297), Pahang (267), Perak (258), Terengganu (238), Negri Sembilan and Penang (227), Malacca (201), Perlis (22) and Labuan (19).

In total, 4,922 new Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday, which took the total number of infections in Malaysia to 2,497,265.

There were 66,240 active cases in Malaysia as of midnight.

Active cases have plateaued at below 70,000 during the past week, with 549 patients requiring intensive care, 282 of them on ventilator support.

A total of 51,406 patients are in home quarantine while 8,698 are admitted to low-risk quarantine centres and 5,587 are hospitalised. – November 6, 2021.
