Klang Valley logs 1,376 of 4,979 new Covid-19 cases

THE Klang Valley accounted for 1,376 of yesterday’s 4,979 Covid-19 infections, the CovidNow website showed.

The region, which comprises Selangor, Putrajaya, and Kuala Lumpur, has reported 24 cases per 10,000 people in the past two weeks.

Of the number, Selangor accounted for 1,128 of the infections, while Putrajaya recorded 33 cases and Kuala Lumpur 215.

Other states and federal territories that reported new cases yesterday were Johor (363), Kedah (371), Kelantan (370), Malacca (225), Negri Sembilan (175), Pahang (256), Perak (224), Perlis (16), Penang (255), Sabah (477), Sarawak (616), Terengganu (277) and Labuan (8).

Over the past seven days, the country recorded a decline of 9% in hospital admissions. The seven-day average in admissions was 1,273, with bed utilisation at 66%.

Meanwhile, Terengganu recorded the highest hospital admissions rate of 40% over the past seven days, with 84% of its hospital beds utilised.

Currently, there are 67,969 active cases nationwide, of which 562 are in intensive care units.

Meanwhile, another 52,720 are observing home quarantine, 8,735 are in quarantine centres, and 5,952 hospitalised.

As many as 2,374,761 people have recovered from Covid-19, including 6,127 yesterday. – November 1, 2021.
