MALAYSIA recorded 36 Covid-19 deaths as of midnight, all of which were backlog cases, the Health Ministry reported.
The country has been seeing a downward trend in fatalities in the past few days. On October 19, it recorded 19 deaths, the lowest number of fatalities since May.
According to its GitHub database as of midnight, seven deaths were classified as dead on arrival.
The daily death figure is the sum total of the number of reported fatalities on the day plus cases just confirmed by the health authorities to be due to Coved-19 after investigation.
Sarawak continued to top the list with 12 deaths, followed by Penang (5), Terengganu (4), Kedah (3), Johor, Kelantan, Negri Sembilan Sabah and Kuala Lumpur (2), and Selangor and Perak (1).
Malacca, Pahang, Perlis, Labuan and Putrajaya did not record any deaths.
The national Covid-19 death toll now stands at 28,912.
In the past two weeks, 21 Covid-19 deaths were reported per 1 million people, with the current fatality rate at 1.1%.
Currently, there are 67,969 active cases nationwide, of which 562 are in intensive care units.
Meanwhile, another 52,720 are observing home quarantine, 8,735 in quarantine centres, and 5,952 are hospitalised.
As many as 2.37 million people have recovered from Covid, including 6,127 yesterday. - November 1, 2021.
