THE Pakatan Harapan (PH) presidential council has not finalised the status of the three assemblymen who withdrew from backing the Umno-led Malacca government.

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim told reporters the matter will be discussed before a final decision can be made.

“We are at the final stage of discussion on the three state assemblymen who withdrew their support from the state government.

“It was not my decision, it was Malacca PH who asked for their support to back PH and return the mandate to PH.

“They back us to return our mandate. They were prepared to be sacked and they knew the consequences, so we cannot just put them aside.”

“I don’t agree with those who categorise them in the same group as those involved in the Sheraton Move. They want to give the mandate back to where it belongs,” Anwar told reporters after a Deepavali event in his Port Dickson constituency this morning.

The three are Idris Haron who was the Barisan Nasional Sg Udang assemblyman, Nor Azman Hassan (Pantai Kundor-BN), and Noor Effandi Ahmad (Telok Mas-PN).

All three were sacked from their respective parties.

PH will not be giving a seat to incumbent Pengkalan Batu assemblyman Norhizam Hassan Baktee.

Norhizam won the seat under the DAP ticket in the 2018 general election but defected and caused the collapse of the PH-led Malacca government in 2020.

In the coming state polls, PKR will contest 11 seats, Amanah nine seats and DAP eight.

The Malacca elections for the 28-seat legislative assembly is set for November 20. – October 31, 2021.
