Sarawak accounts for a third of 95 new Covid deaths

MALAYSIA yesterday recorded 95 new Covid-19 deaths, all of which were backlog cases, the Health Ministry reported.

The ministry’s GitHub raw data depository showed 24 of the deaths were classified dead on arrival.

The coronavirus death toll is 28,769.

The daily death figure is the sum total of the number of reported fatalities on the day plus cases just confirmed by the health authorities to be due to Covid-19 after investigation.

Sarawak topped the list of fatalities again with 31, followed by Johor (15), Sabah (11), Perak (9), Kelantan (6), Pahang (5), Penang and Terengganu (4, Negri Sembilan and Kuala Lumpur (3), Perlis (2) and Kedah and Selangor (1).

Labuan, Putrajaya and Malacca did not record any deaths.

The website showed there were 71,358 active infections.

Of these, 564 were in intensive care units,  299 of them on ventilator support.

Meanwhile, 55,397 patients were in home quarantine; 9,461 in low-risk quarantine centres; and 5,936 were hospitalised.

Total recoveries numbered 2.35 million, 6,637 of which were reported yesterday. – October 29, 2021.
