THE Covid-19 vaccination rate among children aged 12 to 17 is fast rising with almost 60% fully vaccinated.
The Health Ministry’s CovidNow website showed 58.8% of them are fully vaccinated, a leap from 55.3% yesterday.
Meanwhile, 82% of them have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
The CovidNow website tracker projects that 80% of people in the age group will be fully vaccinated by November 20.
Yesterday 181,160 doses of vaccine were administered under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.
Of these, 22,692 were first doses, 136,290 second doses and 22,178 booster shots.
More than 49.4 million vaccine doses have been administered since the start of the programme on February 24.
More than 24 million people, or 73.6%, of the population are fully vaccinated.
As of yesterday, 94.8% of adults have had two jabs and 97.5%, one shot.
The website tracker projects that 80% of the population will be fully vaccinated by December 12.
The Klang Valley has the highest vaccination rate with 87.6% of its general population and 114.9% of its adults inoculated.
A vaccination rate of more than 100% means the inclusion of the changes in the population size that have yet to be accounted for by the Statistics Department since the last census was conducted. This also includes undocumented residents.
Malacca has the highest vaccination rate among children at 80.6%, followed by Perlis (79.2%) and Kedah (76.4%).
Sabah has the lowest general population vaccination rate at 56.7%.
Kelantan is the other state with a lower than 60% vaccination rate at 57.5%. – October 27, 2021.
