MALAYSIA reported 84 coronavirus-related deaths as of midnight yesterday, eight fewer than the day before, the Health Ministry said.
All of the deaths were backlog cases with none of the deaths occurring yesterday, the ministry’s GitHub raw data depository showed.
This brought the death toll to 28,576.
Twenty of the cases were declared dead on arrival (DOA), taking the toll in this category to 5,771.
The daily death figure is the sum total of the number of reported fatalities on the day plus cases just confirmed by the health authorities to be due to Covid-19 after investigation.
In East Malaysia, Sarawak logged 19 deaths and Sabah, 16.
Six of the deaths in Sarawak and 10 in Sabah were DOA.
Perak was the only other state to log more than 10 deaths with 12.
Other states and territories reporting deaths were Selangor (8), Johor and Terengganu (7 each), Kedah (6), Kelantan (5), Malacca, Pahang, Penang and Kuala Lumpur (1 each).
Johor, Kelantan, Perak and Selangor each reported a case of DOA.
No Covid-19 related deaths were reported in Negri Sembilan, Perlis, Labuan and Putrajaya.
Although no deaths were reported yesterday in Negri Sembilan, it had the highest Covid fatality rate of 71% in Malaysia after seeing 18 deaths in the past 14 days.
The only other state to see an increase in the Covid fatality rate over the two-week period was Kedah at 28%. – October 27, 2021.
