FOR the first time, PAS has lauded the Keluarga Malaysia concept coined by Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob, accepting the notion of multiculturalism in the country.

President Abdul Hadi Awang in a statement said the party accepts the concept to ensure stability in the country.

“We welcome the idea to implement Keluarga Malaysia in the government, based on the values of inclusion and togetherness.

“PAS accepts the reality of racial and religious pluralism in Malaysia with a fair concept for all, regardless of ethnicity.

“PAS has proved it in Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan, where everyone has received equal treatment regarding religious, social and welfare rights.

“PAS invites all parties to back this noble aspiration for the sake of common well-being and prosperity.”

Ismail Sabri had two weeks ago launched the Keluarga Malaysia concept to paint a clearer picture of the term he introduced in his maiden speech as prime minister on August 22.

In a speech aired live on RTM TV1, he had acknowledged the fact that many people have asked about the idea behind the concept and why the government wants to boost the “spirit” of Keluarga Malaysia.

“The answer is simple; it is because a family will always care for the well-being, ensure the safety of, protect the dignity of and uphold the religious principles of its members.

“In the context of a nation, we are Keluarga Malaysia, made up of people of different age groups, ethnicities, faiths and races, but despite these differences, we celebrate inclusivity, upholding the spirit of Malaysia as a nation-state.”

He said the Keluarga Malaysia values are based on the principle of supremacy of the constitution enshrined in the Rukun Negara. – October 26, 2021.

  • Is Hadi's "acceptance" of Keluarga Malaysia just a syariah compliant lie for winning support in the Malacca re-election? We have seen how politicians's tunes change after winning elections - e.g. the promises made in the manifesto were not cast in stone!! The promises were made not expecting to win! etc. So voters must be very careful about such promises, which are merely "PROMISES OF CONVENIENCE".
