MALAYSIA logged 4,782 Covid-19 cases yesterday, of which the Klang Valley, comprising Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, accounted for a combined 945 infections or 20% of the overall cases.
According to the Health Ministry’s GitHub raw data repository, Selangor reported 756 cases, Kuala Lumpur (176) and Putrajaya (13).
The cases in Selangor were the most for a state yesterday, followed by Kelantan with 596 and Johor with 504 cases.
Other states that reported new cases were Sarawak (493), Sabah (450), Kedah (333), Terengganu (298), Perak (294), Penang (271), Pahang (256), Malacca (177), Negri Sembilan (145), and Perlis (20).
Labuan did not report any yesterday.
Of the 4,782 cases, 98%, or 4,696 cases, were in the less severe asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic categories of 1 and 2, while only 2% or 96 cases were in the more serious categories of 3, 4 and 5.
Of the cases reported yesterday, only 1,248 cases were admitted to hospitals.
In the past seven days, hospital admissions declined by 24%. The seven-day average admission stood at 1,356 with bed utilisation at 65%.
Although Selangor logged the most cases yesterday, it also reported a 24% decline in hospital admissions over the last seven days.
On an average, over the past week, Selangor recorded 298 hospital admissions while bed utilisation stood at 62%.
Meanwhile, active cases in the country dropped to 73,223 with 7,414 recoveries.
Among the active cases, 56,634 (77.3%) patients were in home quarantine, 9,753 (13.3) in low-risk quarantine centres, and 6,234 (8.5%) were hospitalised.
Patients in the intensive care units also dropped to 602, of which 300 were on ventilator support. – October 26, 2021.
