92 Covid-19 deaths, all backlog cases

MALAYSIA reported 92 coronavirus-related deaths as of midnight, double the number of fatalities a day before, the Health Ministry said. 

According to the ministry’s GitHub raw data depository, at the time of reporting, all fatalities were backlog cases, meaning no deaths occurred yesterday.

The latest number brings the death toll to 28,492.

Of the 92 deaths, 11 were classified as dead-on-arrival (DOA), taking the toll in this category to 5,751.

The daily death figure is the sum total of the number of reported fatalities on the day plus cases just confirmed by the health authorities to be due to Covid-19 after investigation. 

Johor logged 20 deaths, a jump from the five deaths reported a day before.

Next were Penang and Sarawak, which reported 14 deaths each.

The report of 14 deaths in Penang was the highest in the past fortnight for the state, where 26 deaths were reported on October 11.

Other states and territories reporting new deaths were Kelantan (12), Perak and Sabah (8 each), Selangor (4), Kuala Lumpur and Negri Sembilan (3 each), Kedah, Malacca and Terengganu (2 each).

No Covid-19 deaths were reported in Pahang, Perlis, Labuan and Putrajaya.

Negri Sembilan had 21 deaths during this two-week period, its toll increasing by 100%. This is followed by Kedah (33%) and Malacca (15%).

As for the 11 DOA cases, Johor, Sabah and Selangor had two each, while Kedah, Kelantan, Perak, Penang and Kuala Lumpur and one case each. – October 26, 2021.
