MALAYSIA has administered at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine to more than 25.36 million people or 77.7% of the general population.

According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, more than 23.76 million people or 72.8% of the total population have now been fully inoculated.

A total of 124,530 vaccine doses were administered yesterday under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.

Of that, 9,831 people received their first dose, 106,261 completed their two-dose schedule and 8,438 received their third shot or better known as booster dose.

A total of 49,069,291 vaccine doses have been administered since the programme began on February 24.

The country is now just 5% shy of fully vaccinating all adults.

As of yesterday, 81.1% of adolescents aged 12-17 have received one shot while 51.6% are fully vaccinated.

The CovidNow website tracker projects that 80% of the population will be fully vaccinated by December 16.

The Klang Valley has the highest vaccination rate, with 86.9% of its general population and 114.8% of its adult population inoculated.

When an area records a vaccination rate of more than 100%, it means that the changes in the population size have yet to be accounted for by the Statistics Department since the last census was conducted. This also includes undocumented residents.
