MALAYSIA reported 46 Covid-19-related deaths as of midnight, taking the fatality toll in the country to 28,400, the Health Ministry said.
According to the ministry’s GitHub raw data depository, no deaths occurred yesterday, meaning all were backlog cases.
Twelve of the fatalities were classified as dead on arrival (DOA), taking the toll in this category to 5,740.
The daily death figure is the sum total of the number of reported fatalities on the day plus cases just confirmed by the health authorities to be due to Covid-19 after investigation.
Sarawak and Kedah reported the highest number of deaths with eight each.
Over the past 14 days, Malaysia has logged 716 deaths, with 151 of them in Sarawak.
Other states and territories reporting deaths yesterday were Perak (6), Johor (5), Sabah, Selangor and Terengganu (4 each), Penang (3), and Kelantan and Negri Sembilan (2 each).
Negri Sembilan’s 18 deaths over the past 14 days have increased the fatality toll in the state by a massive 180%, the highest by any state. This is followed by Malacca (12%) and Perlis (8%).
On the breakdown of the 12 DOA cases, Sabah had three, Selangor, Kedah, Penang (2 each), and Negri Sembilan, Sarawak and Terengganu (1 each). – October 25, 2021.
