THE Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) recorded RM122 million in sales through outlets under its supervision from September 1 to October 18.

Director-general Zainal Abidin Yang Razalli said 368 outlets nationwide have provided benefits to more than 12,131 entrepreneurs and 2.26 million customers.

These outlets have cemented confidence in customers by adopting standard operating procedures set by the National Security Council, with the sales and profit figures surpassing the initial target set by Fama, he added.

Fama has reopened all its outlets, including 266 farmers markets, 35 pasar tani kekal, 19 fresh fruit stalls, five agrobazaar outlets at R&Rs, and five pasar tamu.

Zainal Abidin said: “Initially, we planned to open only 241 outlets. However, up to October 18, we have opened 368 outlets.”

“On the number of entrepreneurs, we had targeted 6,000 entrepreneurs… until December. We have offered opportunities, and, as of Monday, more than 12,000 entrepreneurs have carried out their business.

“As for sales value, we are aiming for RM200 million until December 31 through these outlets, but have achieved RM122 million as of last Monday.

“Hence, by year-end, we may be able to achieve more than the target.” – Bernama, October 24, 2021.
