LEMBAH Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil today asked the Public Works Institute of Malaysia (Ikram) to conduct a full survey and inspection of hill slopes in Bangsar following a landslide in the area.

Heavy rain had caused a landslip yesterday along Lingkungan Negri Sembilan and Jalan Limau Purut Bangsar.

The Fire and Rescue Department said in a preliminary report the soil slipped down from the shoulder of the main road along a 40m stretch at 7pm last night.

Fahmi told The Malaysian Insight City Hall will protect the exposed soil with tarpaulin while Tenaga Nasional will remove some cables near the site.

“The remedial works will begin. A full report by Ikram will take two to three weeks and I have requested for a full survey and inspection by Ikram due to the frequency of these landslides and sinkholes, ageing water and drainage infrastructure, and also due to some development taking place nearby,” said the PKR lawmaker.

Fahmi tweeted about the landslide last night, which he said was the second incident in months.

“It is worrying indeed. Urgent mitigation by DBKL needed,” he tweeted. – October 24, 2021.
